Actor Song Jae-rim (39) has passed away, leaving his colleagues in the entertainment industry in mourning.

On the 12th, actor Park Ho-san shared memories of Song Jae-rim on social media. Posting a photo of the two of them, he wrote, “You were always so bright, it’s hard to believe.”

Expressing regret over the sudden news, Park also conveyed his sorrow, saying, “I’m sorry” and “I couldn’t reach out, couldn’t look after you. I’m truly sorry.”

Jung Eun-pyo also paid tribute to Song. The two had become acquainted while filming the drama “The Moon Embracing the Sun” (2009). He posted a photo of the set along with a white chrysanthemum in remembrance.

He offered his condolences, writing, “Goodbye. I hope your journey is filled with happiness.” Song’s social media profile message, left before his passing, read “Beginning a long journey.”

Lee Yoon-ji expressed her grief over his death, saying, “I wish you hadn’t done this. I remember your purity. May you live freely and fully there.”

Hong Seok-cheon also shared his sorrow, saying, “I love you, I’m sorry, and I miss you.” Posting a photo of Song smiling, he added, “It’s heartbreaking to know we won’t see this beautiful smile again.”

He continued, “It pains me to send you off without being able to look after you properly or even say goodbye. I’m sorry, truly sorry. I couldn’t be a proper older brother to you. Rest in peace.”

Song Jae-rim was found dead at his residence in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, around 12:30 p.m. on the same day. A friend who visited his home reportedly contacted the police upon discovering him.

The exact cause of death has not been disclosed. According to the Seongdong Police Station, “So far, there are no signs of foul play or criminal activity.” A note was found at the scene.

Song Jae-rim’s wake was set up at Yeouido St. Mary’s Hospital Funeral Hall in Seoul on the same day at 5:30 p.m. His funeral will be held on the 14th, with his final resting place at Seoul City Crematorium.

Throughout his life, he worked in various fields. He made his debut in 2009 as a minor role in the film “Actresses” and gained popularity as he played Kim Jae-woon in “The Moon Embracing the Sun.”

He also appeared in variety shows, notably forming a virtual couple with Kim So-eun on MBC-TV’s “We Got Married Season 4,” where his quirky charm, contrasting with his appearance, won over viewers.

Recently, he was primarily active on stage. He participated in the play “Wife,” which concluded in February, and the musical “The Rose of Versailles,” which closed last month.

He also starred in several dramas, including the TVING original series “The Empress Wu” and the American OTT platform Rakuten Viki series “Heart-Beating Romance,” where he acted alongside Nam Gyu-ri.
